how the holy spirit redirects your steps

You were obedient. You said yes. But now you've seemed to hit a dead end.
A divine pause.
And now you're thinking:
Did I miss the voice of God?
Did He change His mind?
But, what if you're actually experiencing is divine redirection?
God doesn't just guide by open doors, rather sometimes He leads by blocking them.
We all want to be in the center of God's will.
But, what happens when the path that you thought was right is suddenly blocked off, and now you find yourself desperate for direction of where to go next.
Today's post is all about divine redirection ( those awkward but miraculous moment's when the Holy Spirit says "NO" to what seems like a good idea).
If you've ever felt like your plans took a detour. then girl, this post is for you!
Whether you are battling uncertainty in your career, relationship life, or your calling this post will serve as a divine blueprint on how to navigate God's will for your next steps. Let's uncover some profound lessons as we unpack Acts 16.
blocked by jesus
Let's be real, it is highly frustrating when you are trying to do the right thing, but it seems like NOTHING is working.
" They repeatedly tried to go in one direction, but the Holy Spirit would not allow them." ~ Acts 16:6-7
Paul and his partners didn't try just once. They tried repeatedly. They prepared. They prayed. And still... nothing.
what does this mean for you?
This means:
You are not being blocked because you're doing something wrong.
You're being blocked because God is intentionally ordering your steps.
Those jobs you faithfully applied for and still got hit with rejections? That situationship you tried to "pray into" God's yes.
The long time friend you thought would be your girl forever, but she suddenly ghost you?
Sound familiar?
That "rejection" might actually be God's protection.
And, that "no" might actually be God's redirection.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit will lovingly stand in your way, and cause every other door to slam shut so that you can be available for the right one He is about to open for you.
Because sometimes where you are heading may even be a "good option", but ultimately it is not God's best for you.
When the Holy Spirit forbids a thing, it is not because God is withholding from you, rather it's because He is preparing what He will release to you.
And spoiler alert: It's so much better than what you could even think to ask for.
the unexpected "no"
This is the plot twist that no one talks about:
When we face resistance, often we assume this means warfare. Sometimes, being blocked is not an attack from the enemy; it's simply God preventing you from going the wrong way.
So how do you tell the difference?
holy spirit's "no" vs. demonic resistance
Holy Spirit Forbidding:
Comes with a new direction
Peace that makes no sense
Divine confirmation (dream, vision, prophecy)
Demonic Resistance:
Creates confusion
Causes discouragement
Absence of peace
If God is forbidding it, you will not be able to move forward, despite your best efforts. However, if it is the enemy, God will confirm that you are on the right path and say "Keep going, don't give up."
don't overlook divine revelations
Paul didn't hear an audible voice, or have a spiritual leader confirm his next steps.
He got a "vision in the night", of a man in Macedonia begging for help.
That was his cue, " We're being redirected, Let's move."
And catch this: Paul did not receive multiple revelations, he only got one.
So sis, do not downplay your dreams, visions, or recurring thoughts that won't leave you alone. They could be the exact answers you've been praying for.
Many times we miss the very voice of God, because He answers in the way we least expect.
So if you feel that God is saying "no" about a certain decision you need to make. Pay close attention to the dreams and impressions you receive as you wait.
Bonus tip: Keep a dream journal to document all your dreams.
Because they just may reveal God's next steps.
don't idolize the destination
Here is the hard, yet essential truth you need to hear:
Paul and his partners were not even at their destination yet, but God was already moving.
A woman got saved along the way.
Provision was provided on the detour.
And miracles were happened before the assignment was even started.
Let's apply this personally:
You may not be married yet, but God is using your waiting season to help other women.
Your business may not be succeeding, but God is teaching you how to serve and trust Him for the outcome.
You may not have the home you want, but your prayer life is producing fruit.
The golden nugget?
Don't be so consumed by the destination that you miss the present moves of God along the journey.
Because sis, most miracles in the Bible did not happen at the destination, but on the way.
The Israelites' miracle was not in the promise land it, but it was in the transition.
stop overthinking & start trusting
Can say that one more time for the perfectionist in the back (and me)?
God's will for your life is NOT rocket science.
It's a partnership.
His general will: Send out laborers to gather nations to Jesus. His personal will for you: An extension of His universal purpose.
When focus on joining with Him in what He is doing, your personal path will unfold naturally.
You don't need to figure it all out
You don't need 100% clarity to obey
You just need to say yes.
final thoughts: GOD IS NOT SILENT, HE IS STRATEGIC
You may feel stuck right now.
Stuck in between what God said and what you see.
And it may seem like nothing is happening.
But in the Spirit?
Everything is moving.
Sis, please hear this encouragement:
Where God guides, He provides.
God specializes in transforming unexpected detours into divine destiny.
Focus on His kingdom first, and watch as His provision follows you.
Girl, you won't even have to chase for it.
You're not being punished, you're being positioned.
God is not ignoring your prayers, He is orchestrating your purpose.
And yes, it's may be uncomfortable, but this is where growth blossoms.
So stop stressing if you "heard God right."
Instead, partner with the Creator of the universe, who has carefully orchestrated all of your days.
God is not asking you to be perfect, He's asking you to be present.
